“Madonnas” is inspired by the visual aesthetic of classic Renaissance paintings.
These photographs were taken with an emotional intent, recalling my experience as a mother in one of the most intimate aspects of motherhood: the act of breastfeeding. My intention was that by opening the door to this intimate moment, I could share with the viewer an act where, with all its innocence, the extraordinary enters into the everyday. If my lens has captured something of this sensual, primal, natural, and divine human gesture, then I have succeeded in paying homage to motherhood.
